Satination
LEARN MORE LEARN MORE
Satination, or acid etching, renders the glass frosted, making it more stylish and smooth to the touch
TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
A bottle is placed into a hydrochlorid acid solution that changes the structure of its surface, adding a nice and smooth finish. Acid etching is a popular way to decorate bottles of effectively all sorts of spirits, including vodka, cognac, wine, champagne, liqueurs, or soft drinks.

Glass Decor employs high performance SAPI equipment (Italy) for glass etching.
WINDOW EFFECT
Many customers of Glass Decor order partial etching, so that the consumer can see the contents through a small transparent window on the surface.

When filled, it creates a lens effect, zooming in the image placed on the opposite side of the bottle. The liquid refracts the image, creating a unique visual effect and visually zooming the image in. If coated with a special protective finish, the frosted background can also carry various elements and transparent ornaments.
“Italdecor” glass decoration plant employs equipment by SAPI Impianti (Italy) — thanks to the complete automation of the acid etching process, sizeable volumes can be produced within a short range of time.
COMBINATIONS
Utilizing more than one decoration technology can unlock extended packaging opportunities and deliver the desired brand perception. One bottle can combine acid etching, a transparent window, and silk screen printing with paints, including gold or platinum containing materials.
